ABOUT BARBARA

My Mission

I help facilitate your body and brain to gently resolve held experiences of trauma, pain and feelings of overwhelm to help you gain a new sense of calm, inner joy and awareness.

Experience and Professionalism

With 14 years of experience as a physiotherapist in private clinics as well as psychiatry and rehabilitation centers I have worked with and treated many clients in the Netherlands and New Zealand.

In 2013 I started training as a biodynamic craniosacral therapist in Vancouver and I fell in love with the powerful healing mechanisms that this work offers to myself and my clients. I am a registered CST and member of good standing of the PACT

In 2020 I started training at the National Academy of Osteopathy in Toronto and I am now a registered DOMP as well. What I most love from the osteopathic world is the visceral mobilisations. Most of our immune system is in our gut and most diseases originate in the gut, so helping clients work though the digestive organs has proven to be a very helpful therapy for many clients.

A bit about myself

I work as a Biodynamic Craniosacral therapist (RCST). and a manual osteopathic practitioner (DOMP)

I have also been an assisting tutor at the Body Intelligence training in Vernon BC from 2016 for 4 years . I have been a facilitator for NOW Canada educating women about PTSD and how our bodies can store old trauma’s and how to safely shift held trauma in our tissues through tapping, Qi Gong and other somatic tools. I graduated from the National Academy of Osteopathy in 2021 and am now also offering Osteopathic treatments. I particularly love working with the digestive system through visceral manipulation.

The rest of the week I spend with my children and friends. I also love walking our dog, biking around Kelowna, kayaking or paddleboarding on the lake, skiing , playing tennis, dancing and spending quality time with my friends.

In 2016 I started Cranioworks in Kelowna and I am working out of a healing centre shared with an RMT and Shiatsu therapist in Pandosy Village 3 days a week and I love working there.

Prior to moving to Kelowna I lived in Christchurch, New Zealand

On February 22, 2011 we experienced an earthquake that shook Christchurch’s foundations to the core.

Our house was deemed unsafe to live in, and after the initial traumatic events we gathered our belongings 6 weeks later and moved overseas to Kelowna, where we started all over.

It was not until I took the Body Intelligence training, to fully understand the effects that the earthquake and its aftermath had caused in my body. I slowly started to understand that not only my oldest daughter but also myself were experiencing PTSD symptoms.

A transformational journey began, and I have never looked back. Not only was I able to make a complete shift from overwhelm, busy mind and a hyperactive nervous system, to being able to truly feel what it is like to be able to tune into the stillness and calm within.

This has lead to a feeling of increased energy, joy, inner awareness and a better sense of balance in life. Improvements in digestion, mood, concentration and awakening to a clearer sense of self were all pleasant side effects of experiencing the work while training to become a practitioner.

I love my work and I love helping people connect to their inner healing capacity to be able to access so many benefits for body, mind and soul.
